6th Grade and Older Ballet Technique

6th Grade and Older for 2022-2023

We understand that once dancers hit middle school age they have many options for activities and many of those dancers wish to explore those other activites, but also wish to continue their dance education. We also know there are dancers who wish to try a new style or who are not quite comfortable with a style and wish to work on their technique without havig to stress over choreogarphy. Our 6th Grade and Older Ballet Technique class is exactly what those students need!

Dancers in our technique only classes will focus strictly on improving their technical skills for the first semester of the year. During the second semester, dancers will have the option to learn choreography to perform in the spring recital. 

Class Key Features and Benefits:

• Technical skills in center floor and across-the-floor are introduced and drilled
• Center combos will be taught to challenge dancer retention
• Technical difficulty is increased throughout the year as dancers master current skills
• Class Observation without disruption through Closed Circuit Television
• Class will have the opportunity to perform in the spring recital

DRESS CODE: 

GIRLS 
*Leotard, or form fitting tank/tee in Black, Eggplant/Plum, Turquoise.
*Tight crops/long sports bras in above colors may be worn, but only with high waisted bottoms.
*Booty shorts, form fitting capris or leggings in Black may be worn. 
*Tights should be worn under anything where the legs are exposed. 
*A thin long sleeve shirt may be worn in the cooler months in the above colors. 
*Tan Oxford style tap shoes.
*Hair should be secured out of the face (long hair in a pony tail, braid or bun and short hair pulled back with a headband or barrettes - long bangs should be secured with headband, barrettes or bobby-pins).

BOYS
*Solid tee in Black, Turquoise or White
*Black shorts or straight leg exercise pants/sweatpants. 
*Black Oxford style tap shoes.

Any color tap shoe may be worn to class.
